Obama says, Treasury pick made innocent mistake..
WASHINGTON (Jan. 14) – President-elect Barack Obama called disclosures about Treasury choice Timothy Geithner’s tax problems an embarrassment Wednesday but said Geithner’s “innocent mistake” shouldn’t keep him from confirmation as the new administration’s top official in urgent efforts to revive the economy.
The revelations that Geithner had failed to pay $34,000 in taxes several years ago derailed Senate Democrats’ plans to speed him to confirmation by Inauguration Day, but senators in both parties said the information was unlikely to torpedo his chances in the end. Link
Geithner’s Tax boondoggle has nothing to do with gender bias. Where I’ve read at a few different Blogs if the candidate was a female scheduled for the appointment, the death knell would be sounding for her already because an embarrassing scandal had been unearthed. Thats pure bunk.
This is an issue of Trust! Trust and a reliability factor amounting to where does Geithner’s loyalty lie? Will he be working for the good of the people of this country or will his loyalty never have left his former employer, The IMF?
The correct answer IS his loyalty is with the IMF! Geithner is another puppet pick of the SOROS and IMF principals and has been for a very long time. Obama and Geithner have been personally groomed by Soros for the postions they are now about to accept.
Where Geithner’s LOYALTY lies is definitely a question Geithner should be asked by the Senate. Will it happen? I doubt it! Nope-
The Nanny issue will be forgotten, and of course, the IRS questions will be admitted, resolved and no longer a concern to the Senate. When it should very well be a Red Flag signaling Geithner is NOT someone we should consider as an employee operating in the Best interests of the People… WHY?
Because he doesn’t take his job seriously enough. He is NOT working in his own stead. He’s George Soros’ pawn and will be directly taking orders from him while still under the employ of the IMF!
We will in effect be paying the Fox to live with the Chickens in the Hen House. Paying Geithner to be the conduit for Soros and the IMF to do what they will with the People’s $$$$.

Why, with Obama, is it always an “honest mistake,” and with conservatives, it’s an unforgivable sin?

smelly, could Obama actually call Geithner “boneheaded”?
Doesn’t obama’s comment tell us what kind of values he has. Innocent mistake?
Innocent? Just like Capone!
Whatdaya expect, he’s a lawyer!
well
According to Lou Dobbs (1/14/09 – check out his transcript at cnn), O’s transition team went to some considerable trouble to hide the fact of Geithner’s tax nonpayment. Were they afraid it would not ‘play well in Peoria?’
Did you note O’s emphasis that it was Geithner who was embarrassed? It would not embarrass O because he always looks forward. Hard to be embarrassed for the past if you refuse to return to the moment.
To extend the thought just one step further, Hillary was right when she said his words were ‘just words’. He speaks what he must to get past each current situation. Then he moves on, never to revisit (i.e. have to deal with) that particular moment again.
The vetting team had all the time in the World to rectify the situation before his nomination came up for review.
They were soooo focused on Bill’s Library Foundation Donors… did I say “focused”? I meant, obsessed.. that a huge embarrassment was sitting in front of their faces waiting to bloom like a zit after eating a chocolate candy bar.
