The Ulsterman Report: President Trump?
Donald Trump has initiated a firestorm of publicity with his indications of considering a run for President of the United States. Could the celebrity billionaire businessman actually defeat the Obama machine in 2012?
I must admit to initially giving little credence to the recent media accounts of a Donald Trump presidential campaign. Trump had made similar noises a decade ago – and that proved to be little more than a seeming publicity stunt by the publicity-hungry real estate developer. Having watched Trump more closely over the past week though, it now appears this American business titan is indeed much more serious about stepping into the national political arena this time around. And with his vast resources of money, organization, and name recognition, the prospect of a Donald Trump presidential campaign is a compelling prospect. Trump, who voted for John McCain in 2008, has been an increasingly vocal and determined critic of the Obama administration and its “disgraceful” handling of the American economy.
At the very least, Donald Trump deserves much gratitude from those Americans who have grown sick and tired of media personalities and politicians who refused to acknowledge the mystery surrounding the Barack Obama birth certificate. The Obama camp has repeatedly – and to this point successfully, played the race card when the issue was raised prior to Trump’s repeated and public concerns over the issue by simply asking the straightforward question, “I’m just asking President Obama to show the public his birth certificate. Why’s he making an issue out of this?”
Given the leftist media’s attempts to now ridicule Trump, it appears the Donald has more than spooked the Obama elitists into full-on “fight back to protect Obama” mode. No other major media or political figure has been willing to take on such attacks in the direct and aggressive manner as has Donald Trump. And while JournOlist Ben Smith of Politico, and left-leaning websites such as The Smoking Gun, attempt to attack Trump for raising the Birther question, Trump refuses to let the issue alone – pushing it even further into the open and demanding President Obama simply produce his actual birth certificate. Trump himself did just that, telling Newsmax, “It took me one hour to get my birth certificate. It’s inconceivable that, after four years of questioning, the president still hasn’t produced his birth certificate.” And to further bolster his position, Trump produced both his hospital record of birth, with the attending physician’s signature, as well as the official “long-form” certificate from the New York registrar – neither of which Barack Obama has done.
Will Trump’s courage and willingness to demand from President Obama what should have been demanded years ago prove him worthy enough to win the Republican nomination should he choose to run for President? That remains to be seen – but what does not remain to be seen is Donald Trump’s own birth certificate.
President Obama – it’s now your move. We are waiting for you to now provide the same. And in the meantime, perhaps the title “President Trump” is sounding increasingly plausible…
TRUMP SAYS: “I SHOWED YOU MINE; NOW YOU SHOW ME YOURS!”
