Democrats In Senate Ignore Obama Once Again

October 9, 2011

Senate Democrats are all but ignoring President Barack Obama’s now infamous

jobs bill proposal that called for, among other Big Government things, raising taxes on those making more than $200,000 per year – an amount that hardly compliments the president’s repeated assault on the so-called “wealthiest Americans”.

With increasing worries of a 2012 Election Day landslide that will not be to their liking, Senate Democrats are all but ignoring President Barack Obama’s now infamous “Pass this bill now!” jobs bill proposal that called for, among other Big Government things, raising taxes on those making more than $200,000 per year – an amount that hardly compliments the president’s repeated assault on the so-called “wealthiest Americans”.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Yes reader – the Democrats continue to control the Senate – a fact Barack Obama seems to repeatedly ignore when he speaks about a “Do nothing” Congress) quickly tabled the Obama jobs proposal, while no other Democrats volunteered to sponsor the bill. It has simply sat in legislative limbo due in great part to the fact the bill was yet another mishmash of far-left class warfare liberalism and Big Government deficit spending that left many Senate Democrats not wishing to be associated with such things so close to their own re-election campaigns.

What Senator Reid is now proposing is a millionaire’s surcharge – a 5% additional tax on those earning more than $1 million per year. Democrats believe this tax will prove much more popular among mainstream American voters, as well as place pressure on “no new taxes” Republicans by once again making them appear intent on protecting the rich. The surcharge, otherwise known as the “Buffet Rule” after multi-billionaire Warren Buffett, came about after Mr. Buffett rejected President Obama’s initial call to increase taxes on those making just $200,000 per year. The president quickly dropped that proposal after Senate Democrats sent word back to the White House that such a proposal was never going to happen – indicating once again the growing rift that exists between the Obama administration and Congressional Democrats. The surcharge proposal by Harry Reid is as much a power play against Barack Obama as it is an example of tax legislation – and it appears the president has quickly deferred to Senator Reid on the matter.

Thus, it is Barack Obama who is the do-nothing president, campaigning across America asking voters to give him four more years of…nothing. No leadership. No real plan for economic recovery. No intention of actually working with Congress – but only working against them. No belief in the exceptionalism of America.

Harry Reid appears to understand that the “DO NOTHING” is President Obama.

In 2012 – so too must voters.
