Police Union Spanks Obama…

July 24, 2009

Police union condemns Obama’s comments

Yes, It’s about time that party going purveyor of putrid unAmerican programs pays the price for pontificating pompous pronouncements criticizing the Boston PD.

So, says the FOP:

The criticism comes after Obama said Cambridge police officers acted “stupidly” when they arrested Henry Louis Gates, a friend of the president’s, after he broke into his own home. Gates was arrested on disorderly conduct charges, which were then dropped. The president said it highlights ongoing problems with race relations in the U.S.

Jim Pasco, executive director of the FOP’s legislative office, noted that before Obama made the remarks, the president acknowledged that he was only vaguely familiar with what happened.

“That being the case, it’s unfortunate that he chose to say anything,” Pasco said. “He wasn’t there, and he doesn’t know what happened.” (ahem, he’s as useless an attorney as he is a CIC)

Pasco said it appears that Gates was the “provocateur” because he called Officer James Crowley a racist instead of producing identification as requested.

On Thursday, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs sought to walk back the president’s comments.

“Let me be clear. He was not calling the officer stupid, OK?” Gibbs told reporters on Air Force One. “He was denoting that … at a certain point the situation got far out of hand, and I think all sides understand that.”

Preferring to answer Gibbs’ rhetorical response: “NO IT’S NOT OK_ Bob!” The consensus of opinion IS Obama should have kept his mouth shut and stay out of local affairs. He spoke out of turn without knowing all the facts. Hardly presidential.

Mass. police unions ask Obama for apology

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE:CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A multiracial group of police officers stood with the white officer who arrested a black Harvard scholar and asked President Barack Obama and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick to apologize for comments union leaders called insulting.

Gates race baiting

Officers say they resent any implication that race played a role in Sgt. James Crowley’s arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr. at his home near Harvard University last week.

At a news conference Friday, union leaders said Crowley acted appropriately when he arrested the scholar for disorderly conduct. Police say Gates flew into a rage when officers responding to a report of a burglary asked him to show identification.

Obama said the officers “acted stupidly.” Patrick, the state’s first black governor, said the arrest was “every black man’s nightmare.”

(In case you are unaware,  Deval Patrick  was  Obama’s room mate in college…)

Yes, he’s gotten himself in a pickle here, and maybe all of us if things get too hot. Read somewhere that woman reporting the burglary saw two men working at the door, the second being Gate’s driver (?). Also heard that Gates’ mouth began running when Officer Crowley asked him to step outside. Read that stepping outside is proper protocol: protection for all in case there is a perp remaining in the house. But Gates was certain he was being profiled.

Maybe this will be the catalyst that gets this guy out of the Oval Office. BTW I adore the graphic you have up top.

I just listened to President Obama try to smooth over the turn he laid in the sandbox. He’s not man enough to say that Sgt. Crowley was racially profiled by professor Gates. I wasted my vote on a race baiter.
    Shame on me.

Black people face fear every day as typically profiled–leading to limited jobs and education. Imagine your prospects so limited, from birth. Mr. Gates may have acted up but the main issue is a strong social bias and deserves to be addressed. I am some where between pink and blue and flesh color skin. And I am female and short. I am also subject to bias very often. I get the notion that bias and profiling and anger at past treatment may play a part in the drama.

I think that Officer Crowleys actions were completely justified and the professer was using the classic racial copout as a excuse to try to beat the system. Granted I believe that officers used to profile african americans back in the 60′s and 70′s but that was the past so please get over it. If a officer of the law arrests you and you do something he says not to do then YOU BROKE THE LAW, thats not racism, thats the law. If this were a white man there would be no such media attention. Do what the cop says and you have no issue.

I understand where your coming from but the byist issue is not solely the white mans fault. I am not racist in fact I have many friends of a different color but the fact remains that many people of color think that since their distant relatives of hundereds of years ago went through slavery then that means we owe them something! I didn’t own slaves and neither did my family so I don’t owe you anything. To many people are to quick to blame race when sometimes its their own fault for getting themselves into that situation to begin with.

Even educated people like college professors and Presidents engage in “race baiting.”

It must have been an unfortunate surprise to the professor, that the Cambridge Police are able attract and retain an officer with Mr. Crowley’s training, expertise and record.

Of course Mr. Crowley’s alternative would have been to cower and never attempt to identify any African-American citizen whom breaks, enters, or burglarizes another African-American citizen’s property, because this, of course, just never happens.

Yepper. Ye olde “chip on shoulder” routine. “Because I’m black, you can’t question anything I do”.

Does that mean Obama is to be held half-accountable (the white half)?

Hey, I’m part Native American. I want free stuff too. Should I whip that out in my next argument? I’m part Native American, don’t mess with me you racist. And “part” apparently counts because Obama has already established that.

It is a WRONG arrest based on the fact that Crowley arrested Gates after identified that Gates is indeed in his own house and was not break in. It is WRONG to waste tax money on arrests good citizens over small mistakes. Both sides have good intentions and should try to better communicate and understand. We should not make a big deal of it.

I’m a minority and have experiences that most white people never ever encounter. Let me give you just one of these experiences. One of my good neighbors put an extra key in my home. One day I heard noise of broken windows and went outside. A group of white polices was trying to break in his place to rescue since they could not open the door. I gave the key to the officers to help rescue my neighbor. Instead of any thanks, one white male police officer came to my face and yelled at me ‘Where were you!?’ in front of several polices and other helpers. I was surprised and raised my voice answered him ‘I was at my home and you did not ask me whether I had a key!’ Then, he backed away and another officer came to ask my name etc. politely and I gave him all my information. That was the end. Had I called that officer a racist in the yelling match, I would have had been arrested, and that would be in fact for helping them rescue my neighbor.

Finally, I’d like to say that I’m proud of Obama to be the president and in the oval office!

Steve, you were sucked in like so many who thought Obama was somehow going to be better or different that all the politicians that have gone before him.

Obama is a Chicago thug and skilled at saying one thing and doing another.

We are in deep sh*t with this monster who is selling our country down the river.. go Indy…

    You Bet!

I was sooo proud of officer Crowley…the way he handled himself. He was very professional and tried calming the out of control elitist black man who has made a living off of the racial divide never offering anything up in the way of solutions.

Henry Gate’s problem? He hooked into the wrong cop who’s job is specifically dealing with radical instigators.

Gates is a disgrace to MLK who worked so hard for racial equality and successful integration.

Thanks for your insightful post!
