Congress Now Targeting FBI In Fast and Furious Scandal

October 22, 2011

In what appears related to specific concerns over an alleged missing “Gun #1″ in the death of U.S. Border Agent Brian Terry, Congressman Darrell Issa and Senator Charles Grassley have requested from FBI head Robert Mueller a full explanation regarding the weapons used to kill Agent Terry.

“Out of deference to the FBI’s ongoing criminal inquiry, we have delayed asking the Bureau direct questions about the case for nearly 10 months. “However, Congress has a right and a duty to conduct oversight of federal law enforcement operations.

Agencies like the FBI can wield tremendous power and influence over individual citizens. With that power and influence comes responsibility, and nothing exempts the Bureau from accountability to Congress as well as to the courts.”

This new request for further information from Congress to the FBI places the Obama Justice Department once again in the cross-hairs of the growing scandal – namely Attorney General Eric Holder. The official response from the DOJ regarding the accusation of a missing third gun was as follows:

“The FBI has made clear that reports of a third gun recovered from the perpetrators at the scene of Agent Terry’s murder are false.”

Unfortunately, this most recent false accusation not only maligns the dedicated agents investigating the murder of Agent Terry, it mischaracterizes evidence in an ongoing case.”

Presently, there has been no comment from within the FBI regarding the latest request from Congress for more information – Director Mueller is said to be “out of town.”
