TODAY is National Empty Chair Day- Clint inspires American Activism…

August 31, 2012

Hours after Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney visited Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac on Friday, White House press secretary Jay Carney announced President Barack Obama would call an audible in his schedule and visit Louisiana on Monday to assess the storm’s damage.

Obama’s leading-from-behind reaction to Romney’s visit reaffirmed Clint Eastwood’s empty chair analogy, which upset the mainstream media, the iconic actor used Thursday night at the Republican National Convention when discussing Obama and his presidency.

“The empty-chair analogy by Clint Eastwood might be far more accurate and impactful than the Obama campaign and its cheerleaders in the media care to accept,” the insightful Republican strategist Cheri Jacobus wrote.

The mainstream media juxtaposed images of Hurricane Issac hitting Louisiana next to images of the RNC throughout the week, and they continued to stress the seriousness of the storm. Mainstream media networks like ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and PBS reminded their viewers of Hurricane Katrina, and blamed former President George W. Bush for his inaction during Katrina.

Yet Obama spent the week campaigning in crucial swing states like Iowa, Colorado, and Virginia (Louisiana is not a swing state). He even took some time to chat online, proposing a constitutional amendment to restrict political speech while on Reddit, an online link-sharing community. He never once visited Louisiana.

And the mainstream media gave Obama a complete pass.

“When somebody does not do the job, we got to let them go,” Eastwood said Thursday night, in comments that could resonate more in light of Obama’s inaction during and after Hurricane Issac.

Tell – you’ve had a demanding day. The things I know about tonight are that Michelle is speaking and Barry will be home watching with their daughters. He’s fearful that he may get a little misty at hearing his wife speak of him and he hopes the girls don’t notice. He’s home because the girls have school and it’s important don’t you know. Michelle will reveal personal things about him tonight and Biden will outline his CIC philosopies or role or whatever …in his speech (Thursday?). I was trying to watch evening news coverage on this and had to power down when Schieffer started explaining why (using a poll of their choice) Romney got a negative bounce from the RNC. barf. It did interest me that CBS chose the Mark Owen interview as its lead tonight. CBS stated that the entire 60 Minutes this Sunday will be devoted to the UBL killing. Revealed so far is 1. Capture was preferred to kill 2. Helicopter began acting up possibly because of the turbulence stirred up from the numerous walls at UBL’s place.

Am an early to bed early to rise person, so hope the evening goes well for all here and “Mom” too.

This convention just might scare some of the old dims off the reservation. Bet some of them are gob -smacked by what’s going on. (no – I’m not watching. I don’t need to).

It’s one thing to deal with all these special interest groups one at a time and in the abstract but to come face to face with the code pinkers, the OWS’ers, the LGBTG fringers, the furious BLT’ers – I dunno.

Might make some of the dims yearn for a kinder and gentler America.

tell – just an observation – this thread is jumping all over the place when I try to post. Maybe it’s too long?

    U.S. Debt Now $136,260 Per Household—Up 50% Under Obama

( -The U.S. government debt, which topped $16 trillion for the first time at the close of business on Friday, now equals approximately $136,260 for every household in the country.

Just since President Barack Obama was inaugurated on Jan. 20, 2009, the debt has increased by $45,848 per household—or about 50 percent per household.

  15. September 4, 2012 7:20 pm

  18. September 4, 2012 7:29 pm

  19. September 4, 2012 7:30 pm

by the way, i took the dogs for a walk tonight and got stampeded by 8 large whalloping black wild boars, the dogs went nuts, i went flying into a bush, hilarious but scary as well. Had to laugh when I climbed out of a bush with twigs in my hair.

  21. September 4, 2012 7:36 pm

must go sleep, will catch up with the WTF convention in the morning, its like watching a religious revival, this is what a cult looks like people.

  22. September 4, 2012 7:36 pm

Generally, I watch the Graham Norton show in the morning. His guests always have a great time when appearing on his show. This morning, he was asking for somehelp from the audience to perform a facial integration photograph. He chose a woman and a fellow from the audience. Asking the woman, probably in her early 30s, for her name- She responded with .. My name is Malia.. GN gave her such a look as if she had the strangest name he had ever heard of.. and was poking fun contorting his face into bizarre images. Isn’t one of BO daughters named Malia or Malea? (Truthfully, I thought GN was in a left handed way, spiking
    Obama poking fun at him.

  23. September 4, 2012 7:40 pm

    Thanks moon- Wed, got it!

Basil, I think you’re right.. I should reset the comment threshold for a higher number.

  25. September 4, 2012 7:50 pm

Sorry this is so long but I really liked these points about Romney, Hope all of it posts. It was by a poster named Twister on an online article on Forbes.

    – Graduated with “University Honors” from BYU (also known as “Highest Honors”, their most prestigious from of recognition, somewhat equivalent to valedictorian) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English; he’s not just a numbers guy

    – Master’s degree in Business (Harvard, a Baker’s scholar: top 5% of business students)

    – Master’s degree in Law (Harvard, graduated Cum Laude / with Honors, top 1/3)

    – Earned both master’s degrees (business AND law) at Harvard University simultaneously (Could you do that? I couldn’t.)

    – Enormously successful in private business and now worth between $200 and $250 million (compare this to Obama and many of Obama’s closest advisers who have never had to turn a profit or go hungry, and, no, don’t whine about workers Romney let go when taking over a company while at Bain Capital because you’d be forgetting to look at: A) the fact that Bain was INVITED by the companies to have Bain invest in them; there were no “hostile takeovers” by Bain Capital and B) the workers’ jobs Romney saved by saving a dying company and C) the jobs he created after those struggling companies were turned around and started to grow again)

    – Gave away his inheritance in 1998 to start / help fund the “George W. Romney Institute of Public Management” at BYU (his father, George Romney, died in 1995)

    – As head of the 2002 Winter Olympics (Salt Lake City) turned a potential loss (-$379M shortfall) into one of the few profit-earning Olympic games (+$100M profit)

    – Donated his entire Olympics salary and severance package ($1.4M) to charity

    – Put aside partisanship prejudices/trash-talk by successfully campaigning/winning the governor’s seat (2003 – 2007) as a Republican in a heavily Democrat-controlled state LONG before Scott Brown

    – While governor of Massachusetts, at HIS request, served the people of MA at the salary of $1/year (that’s right, ONE DOLLAR)

    – Previous executive leadership experience as a state governor, including Massachusetts’ Commander In Chief of state military forces (Yes, a state governor is legally the Commander In Chief of that state’s National Guard forces unless those troops are called to active-duty by the President)

    – Turned Massachusetts’ budget from red to black while governor (- $3.0B to +$2.16B; that’s “billion” with a “B”)

    – Cut taxes 19 times as Massachusetts governor (that’s not a typo, NINETEEN)

    – As MA governor, developed a plan that would make deadbeats pay for their own health care (you may not like the MA health care law but that’s what it’s sole purpose was. Still don’t like it because of the mandate? Don’t move to MA.) (BTW, how would YOU have solved the MA healthcare free-loader problem and how would you have done it with an overwhelmingly Democrat-controlled state legislature like Romney had to work with?)

    – “Service over self”. Romney endorsed McCain only 2 days after ‘Super Tuesday’ in 2008 when it became obvious McCain was the clear front-runner; America is more important to him than his ego

    – Volunteer service to community as a church head pastor for 13 years all with ZERO pay (that’s right, none); 5 years as a “bishop” and 8 years as a “stake president”

    – Would give ALL his Presidential salary ($1.6 million total) back to the American taxpayers if elected (yes, he’s on record as committing to this)

    – Voluntarily turned down enrolling in Medicare when he turned 65 on March 12, 2012
(in other words, he’s NOT sucking up our precious tax dollars because he knows he can, and therefore should, take care of himself)

    – He also chose to NOT receive any Social Security payments upon turning 65 because, again, he knows he can take care of himself and therefore should not rely on our tax dollars to help fund his daily living

    – Looks, talks and acts “Presidential”

    – Understands commitment (never divorced, in a loving 43 year marriage)

    – Understands morality (never had an affair)

    – Understands family (5 kids, all successful adults)

    – Willing to let all of America see his birth certificate without a fight

    – Released his most recent filed tax records (2010) proving he’s not a tax cheat (the IRS has no problem with his filed taxes), with more tax records (2011) promised to be released before the election

    – He’s pledged (repeatedly) that he’ll repeal Obamacare.

    – And finally…..he’s N-O-T Obama

P.S. – If all one can say about a candidate is that they are a member of “X” church and ignore the talents and character of the person, that person does not deserve the privilege of voting.
