OBAMA LIED again… Now Admits Embassy Attack; Attack Against America…

Obama Flip-Flops On Middle East Embassy Attacks – Now Admits It WAS A Terrorist Attack Against America

After days of officials at the highest levels of the Obama administration repeatedly telling Americans the deadly Middle East embassy attacks were nothing more than Muslim demonstrations against a little known and less seen YouTube video, this same Obama administration is now quietly admitting the attack in Libya was in fact the act of terrorists. Either the Obama White House is incapable of truth, or incapable of competence. Perhaps it is both…

The Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was in fact “a terrorist attack” and the U.S. government has indications that members of al Qaeda were directly involved, a top Obama administration official said Wednesday morning.

“I would say yes, they were killed in the course of a terrorist attack on our embassy,” Matt Olsen, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, said Wednesday at a hearing of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, in response to questioning from Chairman Joe Lieberman (I-CT) about the attack that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

As for who was responsible, Olsen said it appears there were attackers from a number of different militant groups that operate in and around Benghazi, and said there are already signs of al Qaeda involvement.

“We are looking at indications that individuals involved in the attack may have had connections to al Qaeda or al Qaeda’s affiliates; in particular, al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb,” he said.

The U.S. government just isn’t sure yet whether the terrorist attack was pre-planned or whether it was an example of terrorists taking advantage of protests against an anti-Islam film, Olsen said.

“It appears that individuals who were certainly well-armed seized on the opportunity presented as the events unfolded that evening and into the morning hours of September 12th. We do know that a number of militants in the area, as I mentioned, are well-armed and maintain those arms. What we don’t have at this point is specific intelligence that there was a significant advanced planning or coordination for this attack,” he said.

His statements go further than those of the White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, who said last week that the protests in Cairo and Benghazi were a reaction to the video and not a pre-planned attack. Today, Carney didn’t repeat the assertion that the video was solely to blame, but he said again that there is no evidence the Benghazi attack was pre-planned.

“What I can tell you is that, as I said last week, as … our ambassador to the United Nations said on Sunday and as I said the other day, based on what we know now and knew at the time, we have no evidence of a preplanned or premeditated attack,” Carney said Wednesday. “It is a simple fact that there are in post-revolution, post-war Libya armed groups; there are bad actors hostile to the government, hostile to the West, hostile to the United States. And as has been the case in other countries in the region, it is certainly conceivable that these groups take advantage of and exploit situations that develop, when they develop, to protest against or attack either Westerners, Americans, Western sites, or American sites.”

Committee ranking Republican Susan Collins (R-ME) declared at the hearing that she believes the attacks were planned well in advance and she referenced information she had received from U.S. intelligence officials behind closed doors.

“First, I will tell you that based on the briefings I have had, I’ve come to the opposite conclusion and agree with the president of Libya that this was a premeditated, planned attack that was associated with the date of 9/11, the anniversary of 9/11,” she said. “I just don’t think that people come to protests equipped with RPGs and other heavy weapons. And the reports of complicity — and they are many — with the Libyan guards who were assigned to guard the consulate also suggest to me that this was premeditated.”

Collins said she was concerned by the lack of security at the Benghazi consulate, especially since there had been an attack on the mission in June and a more serious attack on the British ambassador’s convoy as well. Olsen said the U.S. government was aware of the danger but not of impending attack that killed the four Americans.

“So there were reports detailing those attacks and detailing generally the threat that was faced to U.S. and Western individuals and interests in Eastern Libya from, again, armed militants as well as elements connected to al Qaeda,” he said. “There was no specific intelligence regarding an imminent attack prior to September 11th on our post in Benghazi.”

CNN Reveals Finding Ambassador Christopher Stevens’ Journal And Discloses Reporting With It

NEW YORK — Anderson Cooper revealed Friday night that CNN had found U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens’ personal journal following the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that killed him and acknowledged the network used the journal in its reporting without previously disclosing the source.

On Wednesday on his show, “Anderson Cooper 360,” Cooper told Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) that “a source familiar with Ambassador Stevens’ thinking told us that in the months before his death he talked about being worried about the never-ending security threats that he was facing in Benghazi and specifically about the rise in Islamic extremism and growing al Qaeda presence.” The source, Cooper continued, “also mentioned [Stevens] being on an al Qaeda hit list.”

But what Cooper didn’t reveal at the time was that CNN’s sourcing was tied, at least partially, to Stevens’ thinking as written in his personal journal.

The Huffington Post reached out to CNN Friday afternoon after receiving a tip that the network may have obtained Stevens’ journal. CNN had no immediate comment, but referred to Cooper’s comments after they aired.

On Friday’s “Anderson Cooper 360,” which airs at 8 p.m., Cooper acknowledged the network had obtained the journal and that it played a role in CNN’s reporting.

On Wednesday of this week, we reported that a source familiar with Ambassador Stevens’ thinking said in the months before his death, Ambassador Stevens talked about being worried about what he called the never-ending security threats in Benghazi.
We also reported that the ambassador specifically mentioned the rise in Islamic extremism, the growing Al Qaeda presence in Libya and said he was on an Al Qaeda hit list. The information for that report, like all of CNN’s reporting, was carefully vetted. Some of that information was found in a personal journal of Ambassador Stevens in his handwriting.

We came upon the journal through our reporting and notified the family. At their request, we returned that journal to them. We reported what we found newsworthy in the ambassador’s writings. A reporter followed up on what we found newsworthy, as I said, in the ambassador’s writings.

I have begun to wonder if the POS deliberately released the apology over the film trailer to the Pakestanis to incite MORE violence and thereby support his initial claim the violence was caused by the movie. See what I mean? If things get more and more out of hand, now that he’s reminded millions of Islamo-fascists that the movie was an insult to their raghead prophet it becomes s self-fulfilling prophecy. Maybe he thinks that with the ME spiraling out of control Americans will forget he caused it.

    It is friggin diabolical.

I hope you are right the POS is teetering on the brink but I have seen no reports that Holder’ss getting ready to throw him under the bus. Got a link?

    ………………………..

Did you read the post about F&F upthread?

It’s a subjective assessment Basil. They have the goods on Holder and the ONLY reason he would be let go is because he is turning states evidence against the others, who will be charged. And the rest is a matter of semantics, apply pressure to the people who may not be fully responsible but know who gave the orders and they will point the way, rather than spending 20yrs behind bars in a Federal Prison for carrying out orders given by someone else.

We’ll just have to wait and see if I am right.

Why would they burn a coffin of Obama and the flag in effigy?

  7. September 22, 2012 1:43 pm

    tell,

I’m thinking the POS doesn’t care about the extent of the violence or that he’s being personally insulted. My thinking is that he wanted to do anything to get the attention off the botched Libyan terrorist raid. Why should he care if he’s being burned in effigy or mock coffins with his name are carried about. As long as the story turns into the very thing he claims he tried to avoid, that’s all that mattes.

This is complex and I’m probably not doing a good job of explaining. Sheesh. Let me try again. He tried to quash the September 12 Libyan terrorist attack story. That didn’t work. The spotlight’s turning to him. What better way to wriggle out of the zone of suspicion than by releasing an apology in Pakistan guaranteed to inform thousands if not millions about this so-called insulting raghead movie trailer thus leading to increased riots thus proving his original assertion the Libyan and Egypt protests were the result of the movie.

OK. I give up. I will have to think about how to express this better.

  8. September 22, 2012 1:49 pm

    tell,

“Issa’s committee counterpart, though, said the report proved that Holder and other senior department officials did not green-light the program.”

If so, it looks like Holder’s gotten off scott free so why would he now implicate the POS? And even if he does – such proceedings would take months. If the POS loses it won’t matter.

    IMHO.

“If so, it looks like Holder’s gotten off scott free so why would he now implicate the POS? And even if he does – such proceedings would take months. If the POS loses it won’t matter. ”
    ……………..

Holder didn’t get off scott free for lack of information. Just the opposite. He had to be in possession of information to force a deal with the Commission. Naturally, the commission is looking for the BIG Fish, also Holder is a pretty important one himself.

It would be foolish of them to publish “all” the facts in newspapers and over the internet otherwise Holder or Obama if he is indicted, would claim they cannot get a fair trial. Isn’t that the way the law works? So we are forced to draw from conclusions that would precipitate them coming about.

Don’t forget Obama is claiming presidential immunity regarding 75,000 documents relating to F&F and the only way he can be prosecuted would be if he loses the election. His immunity evaporates and they can proceed indicting him as a private citizen. If he wins, which surely changes the scenario of how the prosecution would play out. They would have to go the Impeachment route.. which would be a lengthier process having Biden moved into first position and another VP chosen.. way too messy. The strategy in play here, I think, is based on Obama losing the election and taking it from there.

  12. September 22, 2012 2:50 pm

Obama probably made promises like he always does to the ‘pretend’ people and he can’t or never intended to deliver on his promises. Especially now there are billions in aide sitting dormant in the House held up because of the Libyan massacre. So now the ‘pretenders’ are PO’ed ready to burn him because he hasn’t made good on the balance of the promised aide. Obama is in a hell of a fix in both hemispheres.

Stephan Hayes articulates some of what I as trying to get at except I think the film became a weapon for the POS once the Libyan disaster FAQS started unraveling.

“And what about the film? The Obama administration has sought to explain nearly everything that has happened over the past two weeks as a response to the video. President Obama denounced it during his remarks at the memorial for the four Americans killed in Libya. So did Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. White House spokesman Jay Carney has mentioned it almost daily. At the end of last week, the United States spent $70,000 to buy ads in Pakistan to distance the U.S. government from its message.

That’s ironic. In its effort to deflect blame for the unrest, the administration has given more attention to this obscure film than it ever would have gotten if they’d simply ignored it. It’s true that radical Islamists used the film to help populate the 9/11 protests at the U.S. embassy in Cairo. But they also told fellow radicals to join in a protest of the continued detention of Omar Abdel Rahman, the blind sheikh who was behind the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center. And some of the others who gathered were “Ultras”—soccer hooligans looking for trouble.

The American embassy in Cairo first drew attention to the film in its statement. And the administration—after initially distancing itself from that statement—has made it the centerpiece of its public relations campaign ever since, as protests spread to more than 20 countries. The result: Every Muslim with access to media is now aware of a bizarre video that had a few thousand views on YouTube on September 10.”

Excellent illustration of the point I tried (but failed) to make succinctly.

    From Rush.

On Thursday’s broadcast of his radio program, conservative talker Rush Limbaugh said it was a possibility that by blaming an anti-Islam video for violence in the Middle East, the Obama administration itself is at fault for the past, present and perhaps future unrest in the region.

“Let me ask you a quick question — we now know because of the Benghazi attack, it was not precipitated because of the video,” he said. “We know this now. We know that it was planned in advance, timed to 9/11. We know a former Gitmo prisoner had a role in it. We know that our ambassador and three others are dead. And we know that there is no leadership in this country that is dealing with this. Let me ask you a question: By feeding the false narrative about this video, this movie that nobody saw — could it be that the Obama administration is in fact setting off protests across the Middle East?”

Limbaugh noted this all began with the press release originally issued by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo — that had since been walked back — blaming the video.

“Isn’t it logical to conclude that every time a member of this administration goes on television worldwide and talks about this video — don’t forget how all of this started,” Limbaugh said. “Some wizard of smart in our embassy in Cairo sent out an official release from the embassy apologizing for this movie before anything had happened. Remember how incredulous we all were. And this apology tore into a nameless America who would do things that would hurt the religious feelings of Muslims. They put this apology out before anything happened.”

And that apology, in addition to the Obama-Biden ticket campaign slogan boasting that Osama bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive, gives some in the Middle East an excuse and motivation, said Limbaugh.

“My point is, now that — they’ve got a built-in excuse,” he said. “Terrorists all around the world have a built-in excuse, that video. They can engage in any terrorist activity they want. And they know that President Obama is going to blame the video, not them. They not only have a built-in excuse, they have built-in motivation. First you got Obama running around spiking the football, ‘I killed Osama. I shot him dead. May as well have been me that pulled the trigger.’ Twenty-one times at the Democrat convention, ‘Osama is dead. GM is alive.’”

I see they said they returned the journal to the Stevens’ family. (no doubt after they put every single page thru the copy machine.)..

Going back in time a bit- there are questions that still remain. Why were Stevens security teams carrying weapons without bullets? When he had repeatedly said “radical extremism” and unrest was growing in Libya? Who in the Obama administration was ignoring Stevens fears as unjustified?

Egypt’s new president is as slick as they come. These people have a habit of talking out of both sides of their mouths. And for whatever they are saying, it’s always the US that should acquiesce to their demands and conditions.

After Obama refused to meet with Morsi at the WH before his appearance at the Un- Meeting. TG- BC is going to have a crack at him first, sorting through all the dis-similarities of the democratic government he intends to create he claims are just like our America’s democracy. With the exception of never electing a woman or a Christian as president.

What these people are lacking is a Separation of Religion and State and the primary reason why they will never be a Democratic government because their government will always be based in religious theology… operating under Rules created in the Stone Age of politics.

Egypt’s New Leader Spells Out Terms for U.S.-Arab Ties

CAIRO — On the eve of his first trip to the United States as Egypt’s new Islamist president, Mohamed Morsi said the United States needed to fundamentally change its approach to the Arab world, showing greater respect for its values and helping build a Palestinian state, if it hoped to overcome decades of pent-up anger.

former leader of the Muslim Brotherhood and Egypt’s first democratically elected president, Mr. Morsi sought in a 90-minute interview with The New York Times to introduce himself to the American public and to revise the terms of relations between his country and the United States after the ouster of Hosni Mubarak, an autocratic but reliable ally.

He said it was up to Washington to repair relations with the Arab world and to revitalize the alliance with Egypt, long a cornerstone of regional stability.

If Washington is asking Egypt to honor its treaty with Israel, he said, Washington should also live up to its own Camp David commitment to Palestinian self-rule. He said the United States must respect the Arab world’s history and culture, even when that conflicts with Western values.

    (…)

“He repeatedly vowed to uphold equal citizenship rights of all Egyptians, regardless of religion, sex or class. But he stood by the religious arguments he once made as a Brotherhood leader that neither a woman nor a Christian would be a suitable president.”

“We are talking about values, beliefs, cultures, history, reality,” he said. He said the Islamic position on presidential eligibility was a matter for Muslim scholars to decide, not him. But regardless of his own views or the Brotherhood’s, he said, civil law was another matter. ”
